Frequently asked questions
LMP is the standard — pregnancy is counted from the first day of the last menstrual period, even though conception happens ~2 weeks later.
First-trimester ultrasound is the most accurate (±5 days). LMP-based: ±2 weeks. Only ~5% of babies arrive on the actual due date.
Week 14 by most definitions. The first trimester (weeks 1-13) is the highest-risk window.
First ultrasound: ~10 weeks. Anatomy scan: 18-22 weeks. Glucose test: 24-28 weeks. Group B strep: 35-37 weeks.
